Mount Si High School's Language Arts Department Philosophy
A language arts curriculum must meet the shifting demands of a highly complex informational and technological society. Through language, students acquire the skills to assume the independent learning responsibilities required for their future roles in a society demanding adaptable individuals.
Library Department Mission Statement
The Mount Si High School Library has over 19,000 books, magazines and reference materials to support the curriculum and fulfill student academic needs.
The mission of the library is to teach information literacy and ensure that students are effective users of information and ideas.
MathematicsDepartment Mission Statement
Our goal is to create a mathematically literate student. We have ambitious expectations for all, with accommodation for those who need it. Teachers construct engaging mathematical lessons, challenging and supporting students to learn concepts well. Effective use of technology, including graphic calculators and computers, enriches the range and quality of investigations. The strategies we use are varied to build new knowledge and reinforce prior knowledge.
Career and Technical Education Mission Statement
Being a career or technical advisory member allows community/business members to have the opportunity to lend their knowledge, skills and expertise to the teachers of the career and technical programs in the Snoqualmie Valley School District. In their commitment to quality education advisory members ensure that students acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are necessary to enter and succeed in higher education or the workforce. Satisfaction of knowing the ideas that have been generated are being used and that they have made a difference in educating students as well as the personal satisfaction of knowing they have contributed to the education program and economic growth of our community are just a few of the benefits from being a Career and Technical Advisor!
Science Department Mission Statement
The science department consists of seven teachers and seven classrooms.
We have ninth grade classes that cover earth science, horticulture and landscaping. Our tenth grade offerings are biology, meteorology, and astronomy. Students who wish to pursue classes beyond the two year minimal requirement can take chemistry, physics, advanced biology and advanced chemistry as well as the astronomy and meteorology classes. It should be noted that all of these classes involve the hands on use of computers, both on the internet and in the lab as information gathering devices as well as for analysis.
